Higher Learning In Raleigh

NC State, Peace, Shaw. Meredith, Saint Augustine’s and Wake Technical Community College. What do all of these have in common? They are local institutions of higher learning in the Raleigh area. The culture and lifestyle at these schools boasts vibrant passion, pure devotion and the kind of enthusiasm that you dream to find.

NC State possesses one of the best veterinary programs in the United States and according to US News & World Report it is the third best in the country (tying with Colorado State University’s program). The vet school contains a working farm that serves as a teaching animal unit and is located on 214 acres with 20 buildings on campus. The school is consistently recognized for innovation and prepares its students accordingly while advancing animal health and care.

Just down the road, situated in downtown Raleigh is William Peace College, a small liberal arts university that has a strong musical theatre program. One can find many great plays and productions put on by the students who go on to have successful careers in film and television.

Raleigh is home to two historically black universities (HBU). Saint Augustine University, founded in 1867 as the Saint Augustine’s Normal School is the only school in the area to offer a degree in film production. Shaw university founded in 1865 a liberal arts institution is the oldest HBU in the Southern United States.

Meredith is a women’s liberal arts college and coeducational graduate school. It’s the largest women college in the Southeastern United States.

Wake Technical Community College charted in 1958 is the largest community college in North Carolina offering associate degrees and technical certification. It currently has several campuses throughout the City of Raleigh.

Prestigious universities and programs in Raleigh rank high in veterinary studies and liberal arts. Prosperous and ever-growing neighborhoods, towns and cities; college life in Raleigh is exactly what every parent and potential student dreams of.
