RALEIGH, NC . . . On behalf of North State Bank and the Summer Salute Planning Committee, President and CEO Larry D. Barbour, along with Summer Salute Co-Chair and North State Bancorp Board Member Jim Branch, recently presented a check for $125,000 to members of Transitions LifeCare’s management team, said Sandra A. Temple, event co-chair and retired bank executive. The check represents net proceeds from Summer Salute 2020 and brings the event’s 17-year total donation to Transitions LifeCare to nearly $1.9 million.

“For Summer Salute to raise these funds in 2020 is simply amazing,” Temple shared. “When we canceled the event due to COVID-19, we weren’t sure what we were going to be able to do. Our committee was creative, our sponsors hung in with us, and the result surpassed everyone’s expectations.”

This year, funds were raised through sponsorships; donations; the annual Summer Fun Raffle, with special thanks to Fink’s Jewelers at North Hills and to Sasser Golf Cars; and, the new “10 Days of Summer Salute” online auction.

According to Transitions LifeCare CEO John Thoma, “While many businesses suspended or reduced services due to COVID-19 restrictions, Transitions LifeCare’s work was as needed and important as ever. The team at North State Bank and the Summer Salute Planning Committee recognized our need for funds had not changed and they really stepped up. We are pleased beyond words with this donation and with the continued support we receive from North State and this event.”

Plans call for North State Bank’s Summer Salute for Transitions LifeCare to again be held at Raleigh’s North Ridge Country Club on Saturday night, May 22, 2021, with The Embers providing beach music.

In addition to North State Bank, top event sponsors included: Ginny and Fred Smith; Larry D. Barbour; Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina; Caddell Phillips Marketing; Comfort Monster Heating & Air; PPM, Inc.; Hal and Gail Perry; Virginia Watson; and, Wake Med.
