The term “art” can take on several different meanings for human beings. It can draw up images of a painting or it can bring forth memories of the ballet. However you define art, there is no denying how important it is for society. Art allows us to express ourselves in unique ways and allows us to connect with each other on a deeper level. That is why North Carolina’s annual Artsplosure event is such a celebrated part of the community!
Artsplosure is a nonprofit art and cultural events production studio within Raleigh. Their mission is to create quality events that allow the public access to the works of some of the most imaginative and celebrated artists around! Not only does this get the community together for a fun couple of days, but also it enriches the community and inspires everyone to develop and harness a love for the visual and performing arts.
This past May (20 – 22) the festival celebrated its 36th anniversary by continuing last year’s traditional of three whole days of culture and fun. Thousands of people swarmed downtown from Fayetteville Street to Moore Square to partake in the creation that is Artsplosion. The free festival offered tons of events including, the Art Market which held more than 170 visual arts and crafts exhibitors from across the nations, interactive visual art installations, a Student Art Exhibition which allowed Wake County public and private middle and high school to showcase their students work, and plenty more events to get the creativity flowing!
Described as “how the Triangle celebrates Spring” by the News & Observer and “Triangle to the Coast’s Best Cultural Event” by Metro Magazine, this family-friendly event is a must-see. So while you may not have caught this year’s spectacular event, don’t fret because next year’s is surely going to be just as amazing!
