The beauty industry is one of the fastest and ever-changing industries in the world. Women find joy in wearing makeup and the holiday season just elevates this excitement. Fresh trends come in every year and become trendsetters. There have been technological advancements in this industry over the years catering to individuals’ preferences.

Let’s try to take a closer look at this season’s trends.

Minimalist Makeup- This is quite popular these days where people wear subtle makeup and let their healthy skins speak for themselves. Most people use tinted moisturizers along with some soft blush or highlighters for that glowing or dewy look.

Eye Makeup- It’s the winter season and hence party season for a reason. People wear bold eye makeup including electric blue or green eye makeup with glitters adding some spark to their eyes and season. If you want to experiment and get more adventurous, try winged eyeliner or reverse cat eyes which are quite popular and in fashion.

Eco-Friendly Makeup- A lot of people are conscious about what they are using on their skin. People want to try more vegan and cruelty-free products that do not use harsh chemicals without interrupting their skin. These options let your skin breathe even when you wear your makeup. Organic beauty products are also readily available these days.

Monochromatic Makeup- A lot of people prefer this way of makeup as it saves them spending too much on contrasting the colors for eyes, lips, and cheeks. It’s a simpler way of blending one particular color to effortlessly pull off an entire look. It’s budget-friendly too.

Nails- Nail paint is one of the most popular forms of makeup. The nail industry has evolved so much over the years with different forms of nail art to other fun ways to accessories our nails. There are lots of options to make our nails stand out while holding our favorite beverage.

Gloss- The holiday season is incomplete without some gloss and shine. So elevate your makeup and go for that glossy lipstick that you have been waiting to use for the holiday season to set in.

Whatever you choose, always compliment your look with your smile. Eat healthy and take adequate rest for your skin to shine. Enjoy the season.

NEW YORK, Oct. 28, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — H&M is proud to announce the upcoming release of Edition by John Boyega, a more sustainable menswear collection worn by one of the world’s most inspiring actors and changemakers. The new Edition collection features autumn’s key looks constructed from recycled, organic and innovative materials, such as Vegea™ — a vegan alternative to leather, partly made from waste from the winemaking industry. Edition by John Boyega will be available at hm.com and in selected stores 28 October.

“John Boyega is a brave leader of a generation that’s speaking up for change, believing there’s a better way to treat each other and the planet. H&M is proud to team up with John for Edition by John Boyega, a contemporary, more sustainable collection for men,” says Ross Lydon, Head of Menswear Design at H&M.

Golden Globe winner John Boyega has earned recognition not only for his acting, but also for standing up for the changes he wants to see in the world. In June 2020, he seized the megaphone and gave a heartfelt speech at a Black Lives Matter protest in London. For Boyega, voicing your truth is one of the most powerful tools for driving empathy and change. Now he joins forces with H&M on the release of Edition by John Boyega, an uncompromising menswear collection that pushes for sustainability and celebrates the changemakers that try to do good for the world.

“I’m excited to collaborate with H&M on a collection that aligns my passions with purpose. Sustainability to me, means thinking about longevity for the benefit of those coming after us. This collaboration has already birthed opportunities for fresh dynamic creatives. Two birds with one stone,” says John Boyega.

Edition by John Boyega fuses effortless workwear pieces with floral prints and tie-dye patterns. The collection is made using sustainable materials, which is in line with H&M’s commitment to move fashion into a more sustainable future. In the new menswear line, cotton is organic or recycled from textile-production waste or post-consumer waste, nylons and polyesters are recycled, and viscose fibers are from sustainable sources.

With each piece, Edition by John Boyega proves the season’s key pieces can be made in a more sustainable way. A chore jacket (Europe online exclusive) boasts a patchwork denim design constructed from collected denim garments remade into a contemporary style. A striking checked coat, partly made from premium Italian recycled wool, is sure to make an unforgettable impression. A timeless organic cotton striped shirt has a roomy cut, while a zip-off puffer jacket (online exclusive worldwide), crafted from the innovative material Vegea™, can be quickly transformed from jacket to vest.

Ideal for the new season, shirts and trousers have a relaxed feel, as do a knitted green cardigan and a yellow rollneck, all with a roomy silhouette. A pink tie-dye sweatshirt and T-shirts are emblazoned with the hopeful reminder “A better present leads to a better future”, alongside a graphic of planet Earth in action. The collection is completed by a tote bag with these graphics, as well as a floral cap and pink tie-dye canvas trainers.

John Boyega is a British-Nigerian actor and producer, known for his role as Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy films and, most recently, for his Golden Globe winning performance in the film series Small Axe. Off screen, Boyega is admired worldwide for serving fashion-forward styles, and for being a passionate advocate for racial justice.

By Angel Feimster-Montoya

“Make the clothes fit you” is a very good mantra to say when shopping for something to wear. Clothing that fits well will look the best on you. Most of us have purchased an item that didn’t quite fit and needed a bit of tailoring. We’ve had things hemmed, taken in, let out and some have even had things custom made. Custom made clothing is often preferred with certain items of clothing. It allows you to control the style and fit. If you have a hard time finding clothes that flatter you, or just want something that is high quality and one of a kind then consider having it tailor made.

Custom or tailored made is not to be confused with Haute Couture. Haute Couture is a term that literally means “high sewing”. It is a “protected name” that it only used by design houses that meet certain very well defined standards. Haute Couture is virtually made by hand for an exclusive clientele.

As mentioned, there are a number of individuals that have a difficult time finding clothes that fit them properly. Pants are always too short, too long or too big in the waist and tight on the hips. The clothing looks great on the mannequin but not so great on you. It can be discouraging but it’s not you, it’s the clothes. Having something custom made can ease the anxiety and make your shopping experience more comfortable.

Having and item custom made may sound a bit intimidating, but it’s actually a very personable and comfortable experience. If you want a custom made suit, think about the type of suit you want and the material. If it’s warm you may want seer sucker or a cotton and linen blend. If it’s cold you will want wool. A reputable tailor will take your measurements and know what style compliments your body type.

You can also look in magazines for trends that are in style and tell your tailor what you like. This allows you to pay for the quality of a well made suit without paying for the brand name. Prices of custom made suits vary and can range from $500.00 to $6000.00.

Custom made jeans are also popular. Everyone loves wearing a great fitting pair of designer jeans but for some a good fit is hard to find. This is especially true for women. You have to account for your hips, waist, backside and so on. It can be a nightmare. Luckily there are websites like makeyourownjeans.com and mejeams.com that offer numerous selections to flatter any shape for both women and men.

On Mejeans.com you can choose from an array of styles like, boot cut, cargo fit, carpenter jean, classic and flare. You also select your fabric, rinse, number of pockets and trim. For around $120.00 you’ve designed your own fabulous looking pair of jeans that actually fit your body. The true beauty of custom made is that you are in control!

My personal brand is determined by a lot of things but one of the important ones is how I deal with difficult or stressful situations. Even amongst the chaos of recent news stories, my personal brand is still active. It doesn’t matter if I am quarantining, social distancing, working, or even just searching for toilet paper. In this country we have a law against yelling “FIRE” in a crowded building despite having free speech. This is because people would surely be hurt at the least, if everyone panics. Even in 2020 we are still accountable to these rules.

Coronavirus is serious, but panic just adds to the number of those that will get hurt. Sometimes it’s a hurt that is physical like trampling, but it’s not just your body that can be trampled. There is also the emotional pain of having people take their anger out on you, or the cold shoulder toward anyone with allergies.

My side of the register sees tales of the former example of pain, despite how mundane, which is still hard to take. Cashiers still working now are asked “Where is the toilet paper?” Which is fine, nothing wrong with a question but, some of the follow up questions get a bit prejudicial. These can include but are not limited to “Don’t you people stock?”,” When is your next truck?” and, my personal favorite, ”Why don’t you save some for the people who come later in the day?”. Let me drop a little knowledge from the other side of a register.

I SCAN things and tell you how much you owe. I’m not in charge of inventory, distribution, limits, or even stocking the shelves. I feel it bears repeating; I SCAN things. If you want to ask manager level questions go find one. Trust me, you’ll have better luck at it than I would. However, to answer the first question mentioned, you see this thing you are doing, coming to the store and looking for toilet paper? Yeah someone had that idea already.

Shocking, I know, a brain larger than your own. Look I’ll let you in on a big secret, you know why stores are closing early? TO STOCK! Which means, in the morning the shelves are about as full as they are going to be. Rant aside, that’s your best bet for the somehow corona defeating toilet paper.

The other tale from my side of the register is not even a jab to employees, as we are sadly used to all kinds of emotional and psychological abuse. No, this was towards a fellow shopper. With the schedule I’ve had I couldn’t put a date on the incident, but I don’t think I’ll ever forget it. I was approaching a woman seemingly in the danger range of the virus. She was decked out for doomsday, mask, gloves, hand sanitizer around the neck.

I was headed over to find out why she was blocking the adjacent machine, when I saw the “please help” light go off. Two birds? One stone? Yes, I believe I will. Being that social distancing wasn’t popular yet, it felt that much colder.

The encounter with her was pretty normal, distancing from me like I was made of fire, barking orders at me like the dog I apparently look like and, then at the end we heard a cough. The woman ducks behind me like I’m a human shield and we both got the good news that it’s not the virus. Then we got the not so good news that she had skin cancer. “I don’t want that either! You can stay right there”.

I tried my best after an 8-hour shift to explain that cancer doesn’t work that way. To no avail, she paid for her groceries and ran for the hills. I apologized to the poor ostracized woman; we are all people. We all have lives, love and feelings, no matter how bad things get we have to remember our fellow humans on the next self-checkout, on the next aisle over, and on the other side of the register. My personal brand is still active, I’m moving forward . . . Achieving Excellence!!!

When one thinks of fashion and beauty, usually cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Miami come to mind, not Raleigh, NC. But, this budding and thriving city is climbing the ranks as a pioneer in the fashion industry. One of those companies, who is contributing to putting Raleigh on the map for inspiring beauty and fashion, is Nyla Elise Clothing Co. Named after his daughter, owner Ricky Moore, says, “95% of the garments are manufactured, including the cotton, here in North Carolina.” Supporting local businesses is important to Nyla Elise, as they are a true grassroots company, while Moore hand prints each shirt so each piece of clothing has a personal touch to it. Hard work, drive and determination have turned this company into a well-known brand. Moore started out creating the company in a one-bedroom apartment, now one can find celebrities like Kevin Hart, George Lopez and Chuck D wearing the Nyla Elise brand and supporting the company. What sets the company apart is their goal to create something that anyone and everyone can wear. “Our clothes are made for everyone, young to old, valedictorians, skateboarders, captains of the chess team, etc. I want the shirts to represent everyone as a community no matter your walk of life or lifestyle!”

Another company pioneering themselves in the Raleigh fashion arena is Raleigh Denim Workshop. Situated in downtown Raleigh, the workshop is run by husband and wife team Victor Lytvinenko and Sarah Yarborough. Through careful, crafted learning of the history and techniques of traditional jeans making, the workshop’s jeans, collection and accessories are all produced in the US only with a fine focus on design, process and material. People can visit their workshop and experience the jeans making process in action as well as shop their jeans, accessories and jewelry in the curatory, which is located in front of their workshop. Raleigh isn’t their only location; they also have a New York City flagship store.

Vestique, a women’s clothing boutique on Oberlin Road in Raleigh, has had major success and went on to open other locations including several throughout North and South Carolina. With trendy, modern and chic clothing and accessories, the store also holds events such as “Wine Down Wednesday” which is held the first Wednesday of every month. The store provides complimentary wine, while customers shop and receive 10% off their purchase. They also do “Medical Monday”, which is the second Monday of each month, which allows nurses, doctors and anyone working in the medical field can show their badge to receive 10% off their entire purchase.

Style, innovation and community involvement helps make these companies and so many others in the area thrive in the beauty and fashion world.

(StatePoint) As we age, we sometimes regret those life lessons that might have served us better when we were younger. If you could roll back the years, what would you tell your younger self about money?

Hill Harper, star of ABC’s “The Good Doctor,” is on a
mission to help consumers of all ages take charge of their credit scores and
financial futures. Author of The New York Times Best Seller, “The Wealth Cure:
Putting Money in its Place,” he is dedicated to teaching financial inclusion
and literacy. He’s also a spokesperson for Experian Boost, a free, innovative
financial tool that empowers consumers to add positive utility and mobile phone
bill payment history to their Experian credit files, potentially improving
their credit scores instantly.

Knowing what he knows now, Harper is revealing the top financial lessons he would teach his younger self.

Create a Blueprint for Wealth: If you have enough money to meet your basic needs — ask yourself, “what else do I need to be happy?” Prioritize and plan.

“You need to be the architect of your life and create a
blueprint for true wealth,” he adds.

Understand the Importance of Credit Scores: Many people don’t understand money’s impact on their future, for example, a high score can mean access to better financial loan products and the best rates on those loans, while a low score can cost you money with higher interest rates, or limit your ability to secure loans, sign leases or even land jobs.

“People often overlook the impact credit has on their opportunities. I’m aiming to encourage people to proactively manage their credit, and use it to manifest their destinies,” says Harper.
Hill Harper

Take Small Steps: You can increase your credit score by taking several steps, such as establishing a track record of paying bills on time, paying down debt and using financial tools that can possibly impact your score immediately, like Experian Boost. Also, Harper stresses you should keep your usage of credit low, and only make purchases you can afford.

“Everyone deserves a fair shot at achieving their financial
dreams, and access to capital is a part of that, but it should be done wisely,”
says Harper. “Understanding how your credit score is calculated and what you
can do to maintain it will position you for financial success.”

Be Truly Wealthy: Harper believes that money is simply a resource that helps people build the lives and communities they want, and that true “wealth” means being healthy, happy and having a positive relationship with money.

“Some of the most important financial concepts for young
people to understand are the power of savings, the time value of money, and
compounded interest. If you start saving just a little bit early on, compound
interest will work on your behalf. It can transform your life and the financial
wellbeing of your family,” says Harper.

To learn more about Harper and Experian Boost, visit Experian.com/BoostAmerica.

Wisdom can be a game changer when it comes to finances.
Consider the financial lessons those in-the-know would tell themselves if they
could turn back the clock.

(StatePoint) You don’t need to spend a fortune to look like you own a fortune. Use these shopping and wardrobe maintenance tips to look amazing on a limited budget:

Clothing Exchange

By hosting a clothing exchange, you won’t need to spend a
dime updating your wardrobe. How does it work? Invite fashionable friends to
bring their unwanted, gently used items to your home (or another location with
a lot of space). Once all your guests arrive, you’ll have a huge pile of
clothing, shoes and accessories for everyone to assess.

That awesome skirt that didn’t quite flatter your best
friend? It may look just right on you. Your handbag that no longer goes with
anything? It may be a friend of a friend’s newfound treasure. Clothing
exchanges are not only fun, they’re an excellent way to walk away with
new-to-you items that you love. Don’t forget to have a full-length mirror
on-hand!

At-Home Care

Ever shied away from purchasing a particular garment because
the label said “Dry Clean Only”? There’s an easy way to avoid the steep cost
and inconvenience of the dry cleaners without avoiding the high-quality garment
itself. Treat items at home using Dryel At-Home Dry Cleaner, which comes with
cloths similar to dryer sheets that are infused with cleaners and are used to
steam clean clothes in the dryer.

“At a cost of just 25 cents per item washed, it’s a great
money-saving alternative for maintaining your best looks,” says Betsy Appleton,
a fashion blogger.

Go Thrifting

You’ll never know what treasures you’ll find while
thrifting. Bear in mind that many items — including designer fashions — may
be on sale in nearly mint condition, with just one spot or other imperfection.
Experts say it may still be worth the risk to buy those with the dreaded Dry
Clean Only tag.

Appleton, whose Goldwill Digger blog details her thrifting missions says, “I used to be deterred from thrifting dry clean only items because the cost of professional dry cleaning outweighed the bargain of the garment.
